The Desk, The Baby, And New Years

Remember how I mentioned I switched phones last weekend? Before I did that, I made sure to sync up my photos on my computer. There were about 50 photos that I hadn't had a chance to do anything with yet. So. In the interest of journaling (because, seriously, I get a kick out of reading old blog posts), here are a few of my favorites.
"What is that?!" Don't worry honey - it's just a picture of you at your new desk. Yes, it's a pretty terrible picture, BUT...it's the only one I have. This is the desk I made for Lo Gung, for Christmas. I used these plans, and actually managed to keep it a secret. More or less. I started it while he was away on a business trip, and kept it covered with a blanket once he got back. So, he's no dummy - he obviously knew there was a table hiding in plain sight, but (bless his heart), he never peeked. Not even when I eventually had to paint it and leave it uncovered for three days. He said, "Well, I SAW it...but I didn't look closely!" He's a keeper!

This is a blurry selfie of me and my sick, and rather grumpy, baby. I think it's hilarious. Moving on.

On New Years Eve, we gathered with my in laws to ring in the new year. I told the 7 year old she was more than welcome to stay up until midnight, but she had to do it in her own room, in her own bed. She didn't make it to 10. Pansy!

Ma was a sweetheart and made us a sweet treat that would be more commonly found in a Chinese New Year celebration (coming up at the end of January, this year). Tong Yuen! Small dumplings made of glutinous rice flour, and served in a sweet sugar/water "soup". These tong yuen were filled with black sesame paste, and were so yummy.  I, of course, am a traditionalist, and added Martinelli's to the spread. Gotta ring in the New Year right!

What's next? Oh - Lo Gung showing off! He's carrying about 50% of his own body weight right here. That's my guy!

There is nothing happier than Baby Ying Ying, right after she wakes up in the morning. This girl brings so much sunshine into my life, I can't even describe it.

Oh, and finally...Lo Gung and I signed up to be Independent Product Consultants with doTERRA Essential Oils. We have found these oils to be incredibly effective at curing the every day aches, pains and sniffles that come with having a home full of kids, without the side effects we would usually get from taking pain killers of cold medicines. Expect to hear a little more about these in the future. (If you have questions, or would like to learn more about the oils, you can go to www.mydoterra.com/maxinelo.)
