What's on your to-do list today?
(I raked last weekend, and this is what it looked like the next morning. It hasn't changed much all week.)

Fitness/Aloha Friday (& a Giveaway!)

Fitness first: This will be my last Fitness Friday. It's been fun, and I've loved getting the support from y'all. I thought long and hard about it, and I just think that this "meme" has served its purpose.
I made my goal weight, y'all.
So, that whole thing about thinking "long and hard"? Not so much. I stepped on the scale, threw my hands in the air, and screamed "YaDa!" (Heroes style). Scared the wahooie outta my kids. Then I made everyone in the house bow down and call me awesome.
Not really, but only because the tile floors were so cold this morning. (It's a high of 40 today, guys...and it's been snowing since yesterday morning. Not sticking...but still!)
Then I realized I don't need to report on my Scale Activity to y'all, anymore. Whew!

To celebrate, I want to give something away. It's been a while!! I'm thinking...something along the lines of a new apron, made by yours truly? The Holidays are upon us, and there's no better way to keep warm than to crank up the oven and station yourself in front of it!

To enter, simply leave a comment below. Good luck!! (Please make sure you've got a way for me to reach you! The best, of course, is an e-mail address in your profile. Or you could always "follow" this little ol' blog and just wait for me to call your name. Take your pick.)

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...
How do you reward yourself when you reach a goal?

I'm not sure that I'll really reward myself, other than the big ol' Brag Fest that this post is...but if I did...I'd probably go buy myself something. New jewelry, perhaps? Hmm...

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: More good news this week!! The scale keeps inching down...and I'm super happy about that. I have about a pound and a half to go before I meet my "goal" weight (my wedding weight).

Now...if someone could just tell me why my pre-wedding days PANTS won't fit...I'd be grateful!! (Is baby-induced bone spread permanent?! Because there seems to have been a SHIFT in my overall body shape. *sigh*)

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...
What's on the menu for fall?

Now that the weather has turned cooler, I'm craving soups, salads, stews, hearty breads and baked potatoes. Mmm. I think I need to go shopping!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

*A quick note. Today is 9/11, and the anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took so many lives, in NYC and elsewhere. We all have our own memories of that day, and our own feelings. On this anniversary, though, I just want to say this: God bless the families of those that were lost, and God bless America. We need it. Now, more than ever. May we live worthy of that blessing. Amen.

Fitness first:
Umm...let's hold off on this. I wasn't able to weigh myself on my own scale this morning, so I really don't know what my weight is. Let's be kind...and assume it's at LEAST the same (if not lower) than last week.

Wishful thinking......

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...

What's your favorite way to eat an egg?

It is really rare for me to meet an egg I don't like. I like them boiled, scrambled, salad'ed (it's a word!), deviled...I even have my own "special" way to cook them for Lo Gung's breakfast (fried, and then I add a tiny bit of water and cover them just after the bottom is white. Turns out, this is called Eggs Blindfolded. Who knew?!)

So...how do you take your eggs?

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: Umm...can we skip this part??? I'm pretty sure the spell has been broken. (Or maybe my scale's broken??? Yeah. That's it. The scale's broken. ) After 8 months, the weight is longer losing itself. (What? Didn't I tell you?! Yeah...any weight loss I've clocked has pretty much been due to Siu Jeun's appetite.) But...whatever, right? After 21 pounds lost (woot!), I'm stuck. 4 pounds from my goal.

Can I just get everyone out there to think a few skinny thoughts for me? That'd be great.

Oh, and maybe I'll get my rear into some exercise clothes. *sigh*

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...
How does laundering sheets work in your house.

(Yes, I'm creative. Feel free to hate me.)

I thought this one up yesterday, while I was in the midst of washing six loads of laundry.

Yes. Six.

See, we've got house guests, and their sheets needed to be washed before they arrived.

Oh, and BBJ declared two nights ago that she didn't need a diaper.

(She was proved wrong at approximately 4:06 am the next morning.)

And my sheets needed a washing, as long as everybody else was getting their sheets washed.

There there was the enormous load of towels.

A load of "colors" (98% of which were toddler and infant clothes.)

Finally, a load of "whites."

Six loads.

As I took the first load of sheets out of the drier, and started to bunch them (neatly) up, I thought to myself, "Hmm...I wonder if OTHER people pull the old sheets off the bed, put on fresh sheets, and then wash the sheets later with the rest of the laundry?"

I pull the sheets, wash the sheets, and put the same sheets back on the bed.
Why? That's easy.

Putting sheets on a bed is way easier than trying to figure out how to neatly fold a fitted sheet so you can put it back in the linen closet.

So, spill - what do you do with your sheets on laundry day?

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: Well, a little good news this week - down .4 pounds! My official goal-date is December 31...but I'm harboring this secret little dream to reach my goal before I see my twin sister next month. I'm about four pounds away...think I can do it? (Umm...do think think the chocolate birthday cake I'm eating for breakfast is going to help me reach my goal? Hey, at least I'm having milk with it, Mom. That makes it OK, right?)

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...
What do you do with pithy peaches.

I bought some gorgeous peaches last Friday...and now they're not so gorgeous anymore. The peaches still taste great, but they are mealy and dry inside. Not good eats!

I can't just throw away a pound of peaches...so what do I do with them? Peach butter? Will they be OK in a crisp?
I'll choose the best idea and make it after noon, EST..so hurry! (Thanks, guys. :-))

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: No good news this week. I'll just leave it at that!!

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

So my question is...

What's your favorite summer drink?

It's been warm and HUMID this past while, so I decided to brew up a batch of iced chrysanthemum tea this morning. Mmm...sweet, cold goodness!!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: Up a pound this week. Boohoo! I kind of thought last week's weight was a fluke...but I'll be extra good this week and get rid of this pudge yet!!

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...

What is your favorite childhood summertime memory?

I remember vacations with my family...houseboats, cabins, and the "loops" Mom would always find to drive. I remember playing "store" with Myrnie and "Ricardo" (his stage name when we were kids :-)). I remembere how the Ponderosa Pines smelled in the summer time - when the sun warmed them up, the bark on the trunks smelled like sweet vanilla.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: Down a bit more this week. Just over two pounds to go! Woohoo!!! (I'd like to take this moment to thank Siu Jeun for being such a mama's boy and sucking off, already, nearly 10 more pounds than his big sister EVER did. Thank you, mama's boy.)

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...
What are you reading right now?

I don't think it's a secret that I lurve me some fantasy. Give me an impossible situation, and a happy ending made possible by magic, fairies, vampires, or magic wands, and I'm a happy girl. (Only if they can get to that happy ending by keeping all their clothes on and their mouths clean, mind you. House of Night series, I'm looking at you. Shame on you!) I read Twilight again this week, and am all set to pounce into some Fablehaven. You?

Fitness/Aloha/Tongginator Friday

(Goodness, but this post is coming late in the day! We started off the morning by running 10 minutes down to the road to a friend's house, where I left my cell phone yesterday. Siu Jeun fell asleep in the car on the way home...which means that 5 minutes was all the nap he was gonna take before noon. Ouch. A friend came to visit, with her two kids, and I finally put him down at 11:30. He slept for 20 minutes. again, ouch. He took another 10 minute nap a few hours later, and then crawled around on the floor, talking to his pacifier, for an hour while I attended a meeting online. Now, it is nearly 4 pm, he's not going back to bed, and...where did my day go?! At least I got my floors swept and mopped. Woot! Oh, and I made two cakes. Om nom nom.)

Fitness Friday: the part of the story where I tell you about my weight loss.

I'm down a little over two pounds for the week. WOOT. I think I took off what I gained on vacation....plus a little bit. We're making progress, people. 4 more pounds to go!

Aloha Friday: the part of the story where I ask you a question, you answer it...and thus I have a really, really easy blog day. For more Aloha Friday fun, head over to www.islandlife808.com.

If you could eat anything, RIGHT NOW, what would it be?

Tongginator Friday: the part of the story where I participate in Tonggu Momma's (one time?) carnival to share stories that show that our daughters can be as feisty, adorable and down-right THEMSELVES as her very own little Tongginator.
(ps - a Tongginator is a Terminator from Tonggu County. To see what I mean, head over to Tonggu Momma's blog. Tell her LoLo sent you.

Here's a quick story, and the first one that comes to mind:

Last summer, we flew our little crew of three (plus a bun in the oven) back to Seattle to see my family. BBJ was reasonably good on the flight back. (Meaning that she didn't try to maul anyone. And we let her eat ketchup for dinner. And wear a crazy outfit. Seriously - go check it out.) We had a great time with my family, hanging out with my family at a rented cabin...and trying to forget the flight going there. Why?

Because my sweet daughter, somewhere over South Dakota, after a day of ABSOLUTELY NO NAPS WHATSOEVER, demanded that we open the doors and let her off the plane. Now.

Have you ever tried to say no to a two year old who is BEYOND tired, and bored? Hehe...Let's just say, the entire jumbo jet knew that our two year old was having issues with authority that day.

(For the full story, head over here.)

Oh, and one more quick one - during our recent trip to Philadelphia and DC, we were BLESSED to be able meet up with Tonggu Momma and her crew. Waiting for the train, after dinner, I challenged both girls (Tongginator and BBJ) to a spinning party. They realized they were both wearing dresses, and proceeded to spin their little hearts out. It was Pretty Darn Cute. The end.

That's it for me, folks. Have a GREAT weekend. Oh, and be sure to head over to Tonggu Momma's this weekend if you need a good laugh. I'm pretty excited to read everybody's Tongginator-wanna-be stories.

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: Ok, so I have a confession this week. The haircut last week cost me at least a pound, so don't hate me, ok? I'm down 2.6 pounds. Seriously - if you need a little boost in your confidence...go hack your hair off. You get insta-sassy, AND insta-weight loss. Works for me! Just 4.4 pounds to go. I can do this!

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...

What is your favorite thing about your in-laws?

My in-laws flew in last night, and I am thrilled. I know I got really lucky, but I adore my in-laws. They play endless games with my two year old, think everything my 6 month old does makes him a genius, and told me my new haircut makes me look like a 明星 (celebrity). My MIL cooks lunch and dinner every day, and takes all the meat I have in the freezer (at my request) and marinates it all, portions it out, and freezes it again so I have easy meals in the weeks after she leaves. (I have to say, though - there are only two things I do better than my MIL - breakfast, and speaking English. For some reason, if we both use the same pancake mix to make pancakes, mine always turn out better. I'm not complaining!)

So, what do you love about yours? (Lo Gung, you've got to chime in here. Your participation today is not optional. Love ya!)

(PS - I had a dream last night, and my parents were in it. I was...at prom? And my dad was with me, and hopped out at the gas station and paid for my fill-up. Maybe I just enjoy Real Adults taking charge every once in a while. :-))

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Fitness first: I'm down another .4 pounds this week, and 72% done with my goal! My body fat, as measured by my scale, is down to 18%...as opposed to 25 or 28 when I was at the height of my pregnancy. Woohoo!!

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

So my question is...

What are you cooking this weekend?

I just finished boiling my ribs and chicken for tonight. I'll marinate them and then grill them to sticky perfection. My mango pudding is setting up in the fridge. I just need to cook the corn, probably two ways - grilled and creamed. I'll make a strawberry cobbler later, and chop up the watermelon. My guests are bringing pasta salad, hot dog buns, green salad, brownies and ice cream. Om nom nom!!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

First off, a fitness report: Down a pound this week. I'm 70% completed with my goal! Woohoo!!

And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)

Here's a little background first: I have a friend coming to visit this evening. I think she'll stay for a day or two. She was one of the girls I worked with when I was a missionary in Hong Kong, and is one of my good friends. I haven't seen her in several years, and she'll only be here a short time.

So, my question is...

If you could see a friend this weekend that you hadn't seen in several years, what would YOU do? Where would you go? What's cool in YOUR town?

I'm sure we'll go to Stew Leonard's...and there will be cooking and eating and hanging and laughing, reminiscing...and as much Chinese as we can handle. I've already drilled BBJ on what to call her - she's Gam Yi Yi. (Auntie Gam...her name isn't Gam, but it's what I called her on our mission, and...nobody knows who I'm talking about if I use her real name. hehe She'll probably call me A-Ngaahn...because that's what she called me on our mission. Make sense? Those were our Chinese surnames.)

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

First off, my Fitness Report - it's not as bad this week! I'm down .4 pounds..which is still something, right? Siu Jeun is really enjoying his Big Boy Food...and mama hasn't lost much weight since their love affair started. *sigh* Luckily, we became the proud owners of a new jogging/walking stroller this week, and have already taken it out three times. Love, all around!

And...on to Aloha Friday - the part of the week where you do my blogging for me! It's simple - answer the question below in the comments! If you'd like to put up your own Aloha Friday post, or go answer some other questions, click on the banner up above and jump on in!

What's your favorite summer time treat?

When I was in middle school, the little snack cart sold strawberry ice cream bars. They were strawberry in the middle, vanilla on the outside, and covered in little crunchy...things. Om nom nom. I haven't had one since I was 13 years old!

Your turn!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Another week, another Friday. I'm sitting in the living room...listening to both of my kids clamor to be let out of their rooms. *sigh* They used to sleep until 8:30. It's 7:00! What gives?!

Anyhow...fitness check in first. Aaaaaaand...nothing. Nada. Zilch. Not a single ounce, up or down. That's two weeks in a row! I'm going to try some new things this week, and let you know how it goes. I have been working out with Lo Gung in the mornings - and I have the leg pains to prove it! - but it hasn't been aerobic, so it hasn't helped me reach my goals really.

I'm joining in on the Aloha Friday fun again, over at Island Life. Aloha Friday is the day to kick back, take it easy...and let y'all do my blogging for me. I'll ask a simple question, you give a concise answer. Sound good?

When I say "wedding day", what's the first thing that pops into your head?

My favorite memory of my wedding day takes place about 20 minutes after we were sealed (or married). I was married in a fairly plain white dress, in the style of a Chinese keipou, made just for me by a friend in Hong Kong. After the ceremony, I changed into a more American (and princess-y!) wedding dress and went downstairs to meet Lo Gung. He had never seen the dress. As I came around the corner, his mouth dropped open and he said, "Wow."

I love having that kind of power. (And you'd better believe it's part of my motivation to get this silly baby weight off!!!!)

Your turn!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Welcome back to Fitness/Aloha Friday, y'all! The day of the week when I tell you if I've lost any weight, ask you a short question, and make you do my blogging for me.

First off, a fitness update. Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news.

First the good news - according to my Wii Fit, I'm officially in the "Normal" BMI/weight range. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is really great news for me. :-)

Now the bad news - said Wii Fit would like me to get to a BMI of 22. In order to reach that BMI...I need to lose 16 pounds, instead of the 8 that is the rest of my current goal. *sigh* How important is a BMI? Anyone?

Where are you in your blogging journey?

I meet so many wonderful new people every week on this blog...but I'd like to know, please, your PLACE in the blogging world. Here, I'll show you.

Hi, I'm Aunt LoLo. Bubba Bubbles was started as a way to brag on my daughter, over two years ago. I currently blog about our life, and all that entails. (Being a Chinese/American family, living temporarily on the East Coast, and raising a toddler and a newborn.) I try to respond to every comment that comes in, either in an e-mail or returning the favor on their blog.

That's it! Can't wait to "meet" everyone!

Fitness/Aloha/China Talk Friday!

My friends....I have failed you. Yesterday was a Chinese Festival, and I didn't even let you know!!

Here's the skinny - Yesterday was Tuen Ng Jit (Tuen Ng Festival). A long time ago, there was a poet who was executed and his body thrown in the river. The local villagers loved the poet, and did not want his body to be eaten by the fishes before they could find it and give it a proper burial. They threw rice dumplings into the river to distract the fishes while they drove boats up and down the river looking for the body.

How does it shake out now? In every major Chinatown in the world, boats are dressed up in gilt and finery and raced up and down rivers while bystanders eat delicious parcels of glutinous rice, pork, and other fillings, all wrapped up in a bamboo leaf and steamed. Om nom nom! Called "jung" (or "zongzi" if your bent runs towards Mandarin) these little dumplings are only available this time of year, and are quite the treat.

(For a more...detailed description, and a recipe for the dumplings, go here.)

We celebrated with a lovely Chinese dinner last night...and I came up with a new recipe! If you can get your hands on a few Chinese ingredients (Five Spice Powder, and Oyster Sauce), you've got to make these ribs! (You could substitute some pepper, nutmeg, etc. for Five Spice Powder. Don't let that scare you!)

Now that I have enlightened you on the Chinese goings on of the week, let us proceed to our normally scheduled programming.

On the fitness front...I've lost a bit more weight! I don't know if it's because the weather suddenly cooled down or what, but I lost over two pounds this week. I find myself a lot more reticent to share my exact weight now that I'm back down to my "normal person" weight. I can't exactly call this Post Baby Fat now that I weigh what I did when I got pregnant with Siu Jeun. Sufficeth to say - I have officially broken the 1-5-0 barrier, and I am so, so happy!

And now, it's your turn.

I'm joining in on the fun over at Island Life again.
Photobucket
Friday is a day to kick back, relax...and let y'all do my blogging FOR me!

So, riddle me this...

School is out, or almost out, for just about everyone. What are your big plans for the summer?

I'll start. We've got a whole clan of LoLos descending on us in July, at which point we will head off on a caravaning whirlwind tour of a few choice East Coast destinations. (I might even get to meet some blogger buddies. Shhhhh. Oh, and there WILL be eating. Did I ever tell you how you can tell if a vacationer is LoLo or not? It's easy - when they return from vacation, ask them how their vacation was. If they list off a million historically significant places they visited, complete with local trivia...they're not part of my husband's family, but you likely found my mother. IF, however, they proceed to give you a play by play account of the new or amazing foods they encountered in their journeys...stick a stamp on 'em and send them back, baby - you've found the rest of the LoLo Clan. I've heard this holds pretty true for the rest of our Asian Persuasian friends...but I have yet to test the theory.)

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Hey, everyone!! Is it Friday...again?? Already??!

Fitness Update - After my weigh-in this morning, I'm down another .4 pounds! The weight isn't coming off very fast, but it IS coming off at a steady pace. Can I get a 'woo-hoo'??!

I'm joining in on the fun over at Island Life again.

Friday is a day to kick back, relax...and let y'all do my blogging FOR me!

What do you grill in the summertime? There's got to be more than hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken!!!

Alright - discuss. My future dinner plans are DEPENDING on you!!

Fitness/Aloha Friday

Well, I'm down another .6 pounds! I'm so happy...just 11 pounds more to go!

Of course, there's been a new development this week - Siu Jeun is now allowing me to eat dairy now. Do you know what this means? Cheese, milk, ice cream, pizza, cheesecake...they are all options again. How am I going to lose weight now?! Oh well...I'll figure that out, right after I have a piece of pizza for dinner! Wahoo!!

Over at IslandLife808.com, Friday is a day to kick back, take it easy...and make your readers do the blogging for you.

So, I've got a question for y'all!

What's for dinner?

Have a great day!!

Fitness Friday!

Hey, y'all! Just a quick check in. I'm down another pound this week, and I'm halfway to my goal!! I'm so excited, and I'm really just proud of myself.

Grandpa's in town until tomorrow morning. We've got plans to play, cook, eat...and make the most of our remaining time together. (Not to mention the scads of projects I have to finish TODAY!)

So...this is just a quick post. Have a great Friday, everyone.

In fact, this post is so short, let's call it an Aloha Friday post. (I'll do a real one next week, with the button and everything.)

Answer this question in the comments: What projects are you working on right now?
