Aunt Winnie

Happy Memorial Day! Things were not NEARLY as crowded as I thought they would be today. Where was everyone? From the looks of things, everyone was at home, with their own families, playing ball on the lawn. Fun!

Today Will and I left Teah with his parents during her nap and went out in search of the Wii. We didn't find it in any of the four stores we went to, so we bought a big, squishy ball for Teah instead. Nice trade! We called his parents then, to check on bubba, and she had been awake for about half an hour and had already devoured an entire banana.

We all met up at T.G.I. Friday for lunch. Delicious! Will and I split a portabello sandwhich, roasted red pepper soup, and green bean fries. Teah just enjoyed the crayons. :-/

After that, we went for some more shopping. Somehow, Will couldn't find a single pair of dress slacks that he liked in Macy's. Oh well! He likes to shop, so that will give us something to shop for. He asked me to mention WHY he needs new slacks. His favorite slacks...the ones that he wears most often....well, he was wearing them at church a few weeks ago and looked down during Priesthood (the last of a three hour block of church) and realized there was a fairly good sized hole, right between his legs. Oh dear! He was pretty embarassed, and we had a memorial service for the Favorite Pants that evening. How do you replace the perfect pair of charcoal slacks?!

We came home and put Teah down for her nap at 3:30 pm. I guess I wasn't watching the clock carefully enough, because we supposed to leave at 4 for the family BBQ. Tell that to bubba! She woke up at 5 and we all packed up and left.

We met up with all the Lo clan in Church Fork in Mill Creek Canyon, right next to a beautiful little creek. There was SO MUCH FOOD. Driving out, afterwards, I commented how much more EXCITING a BBQ with a Chinese family is. All the other families were sitting neatly at little picnic tables, with their buckets of KFC. Not us! We had potato salad, pasta salad, fruit salad and chips. We had chicken wings, pork chops, hot dogs and steak kabobs to roast over the camp fire. There was a dutch oven chocolate cake, s'mores and sweet potatoes roasted in the coals. It was like a ward party! Everybody cooed over Teah and wanted to hold her, ESPECIALLY Will's youngest cousin, Kylie (9). I left Teah in Brenda's (Will's aunt) competent care and went by the fire to fix myself a s'more. I heard someone say, "Look at Teah, how sticky she is!" I turned around to see my daughter ogling a large marshmallow stuck to the palm of her hand. There was marshmallow on her nose, on all ten toes and stuck to both hands. Thanks, Brenda! When Teah droppped that marshmallow (it finally shook free of her palm), Brenda said, "oh no!" and promptly gave her another one. Oh well - what's the fun of having aunts if they can't slip you huge balls of gooey sugar when Mom isn't looking!

We left the canyon and went into Salt Lake proper to go to Apollo Burger for ANOTHER dinner. Winnie and Scott had a three hour layover on their way home from D.C. and wanted to see Teah. That was fun. Teah is such a ham! She smiled and sang songs...and drank my milkshake...then smiled HUGE. Her favorite game went like this: Grunt and whine until Mom pulled the straw out of the milkshake to offer her a taste. Right as I got the straw up to her mouth, she would tip her head back and smile until her eyes disappeared. When she heard everyone coo and laugh, she would open up her eyes, open her mouth and slip the straw in for her taste. She's SUCH a ham.

We all came home and had our showers....and watched the Jazz lose a home game against the Spurs. Grr.....

Goodnight!

  1. Wow...amazing trip, amazing family! Glad y'all are having fun, and tell Will I'm sorry to hear about the demise of his favorite slacks. May he find another pair quickly :o)

Oh, and BTW, marshmallows are pretty dangerous for babies....IF they can ever get the glob into their mouth :O)
