China Talk Tuesday - Chinese Food and Pop Culture

This will be a repeat if anyone reads Tonggu Momma's blog, but...I think it bears repeating!

To kick off our All Things China stuff...let's learn about American Chinese food...and Persian Chinese food...Brazilian Chinese Food...Italian Chinese Food (what do you mean fried gelato isn't Chinese?!)...

This is a video on TED entitled "Who was General Tso? and other mysteries of American Chinese food". It's a presentation by the fabulously witty Miss Jennifer 8. Lee, and it's nearly 20 minutes long, but oh so worth it!

    I watched it when you first sent it 'round on e-mail. It was fascinating. Especially about the fortune cookies. And how I'd been pronouncing "tso" wrong all my life. ;) And can you believe I never had Chinese food before my 18th birthday? And yet I still managed to become Chinese eventually! :)
