And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)
So my question is...
What is your favorite thing about your in-laws?
My in-laws flew in last night, and I am thrilled. I know I got really lucky, but I adore my in-laws. They play endless games with my two year old, think everything my 6 month old does makes him a genius, and told me my new haircut makes me look like a 明星 (celebrity). My MIL cooks lunch and dinner every day, and takes all the meat I have in the freezer (at my request) and marinates it all, portions it out, and freezes it again so I have easy meals in the weeks after she leaves. (I have to say, though - there are only two things I do better than my MIL - breakfast, and speaking English. For some reason, if we both use the same pancake mix to make pancakes, mine always turn out better. I'm not complaining!)
So, what do you love about yours? (Lo Gung, you've got to chime in here. Your participation today is not optional. Love ya!)
(PS - I had a dream last night, and my parents were in it. I was...at prom? And my dad was with me, and hopped out at the gas station and paid for my fill-up. Maybe I just enjoy Real Adults taking charge every once in a while. :-))
My father in law and his wife send us gifts for every occasion. They never forget birthdays. They've even sent gifts for the boys for Halloween and Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law leaves us alone for the most part. I can honestly say that I appreciate that.
My father-in-law was a wise-cracking funnyman, always something witty to say. He also loved to bargain hunt. He used to buy me the oddest things, just because they were on sale. Like that kitchen shears, or the commemorative Bay shopping bag, and my favorite.... brand new The Joy of Cooking (he got it for $1).
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law loves gardening, and likes weeding. Hey, she always chip in to help with weeding, I appreciate that. She is always willing to babysit the kids, although I try hard not to take advantage of that fact. She's a very sweet lady.
My favorite thing about my in-laws is that they are no longer in our lives. (It's really a sad story, but...) My AF
ReplyDeleteAw, I love how they help with the meat. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things about my in-laws: they are really, really nice, and they live in AUSTRALIA. ;) Which is where all in-laws should live. :)
This sounds absolutely awful, but my husband would ask me, "that she live on the other side of the country?" And he'd be right.
ReplyDeleteI love it that my in-laws are so great with my kids. They pitch right in and help out with whatever needs to be done. Love that!
ReplyDeleteThey're also really great card players, and we always have fun playing games whenever they visit.
I love that they were so receptive of me from the day they met me.
ReplyDeleteNo in-laws yet. But I am planning a big haircut soon so hopefully I will drop some weight lol
ReplyDeleteI'm love that my in-laws are nice normal decent loving people that are interested in their kids/grand kid's lives. I had a previous marriage and couldn't say the same thing once upon a time.
ReplyDeleteMy father in-law is so great we don't get to see him much but when we do the kids just adore him and it's always a good time.
ReplyDeleteWhat's NOT great about them? They adore the kids, are kind to me, think their son walks on water, send cards at all the holidays for the grandkids, let us crash at their house when we're in town, and paint the walls when they visit! Pretty great :)
ReplyDeleteThey love spending time with the kids and are always willing to babysit. My parents, not so much. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love my in-laws, too. Mostly because they're normal--two of my best friends have in-laws that are crazy-weird. So I feel pretty lucky.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little slow on the uptake here, but I really appreciate that they never tell me how to raise my kid(s) or invade my privacy and such. Unlike my mom...I love her, but she's always lecturing and nagging and giving me her opinions/advice when I REALLY don't want it. I LOVE that my in-laws don't do that! LOL, Mom does enough to cover the whole family;)
ReplyDeleteMy father-in-law always sends cards for birthdays and gift for Christmas. My mil (they're divorced) always remembers the boys birthdays with an Amazon e-gift card and always forgets the girls even when I remind her. But she is kind to them when she visits. Focus on the positive, so that's all I'm gonna say.
ReplyDeleteHaha, in laws huh? You did get pretty lucky in terms of in laws. The fact that they actually like you seems to make that work out pretty well. And your MIL is an amazing cook... mmmm :) you can come and visit Washington anytime. And if you can figure out how to make french toast like Kneaders in Utah, then you will be the breakfast queen.
ReplyDeletehello! i haven't been blog-visiting in ages, and i wanted to thank you sooo much for your kind welcome and congrats to my newest little man!! we've been home for almost a week now and are still settling down. boy, it feels busy around here!! :)
ReplyDeleteand, unfortunately, i'm w/ TM on this one... i'm just relieved that i don't have enough of a relationship w/ my husband's mom to create some of the drama i see w/ other inlaw relationships!! so i guess that's a good thing tho it makes me so sad she doesn't want to do anything w/ us or the boys.
