*Spoiler Alert. I'm about to lay out all the results of this week's voting. If you don't want to know who's going home this week, stop reading. You're welcome.
Sharing their talents with us tonight are...Lady Gaga and Harry Connick, Jr.
Wha?? Yeah. Let's just wait and see how that goes.
Starting this out is an adorable little medley. The four guys start us out with The Lady is a Tramp, in unison. (Nice!) And out comes Crystal . Sweet.
(If you didn't catch it last night, Lo Gung and I are kind of suckers for Sinatra...for a lot of reasons. Actually, we put together a mix CD for our wedding reception, and about 80% of it was Sinatra. Heh.)
So, it kind of goes without saying...tonight's opening medley number is my favorite of the season. So, so classy. The harmonies are super tight. Just excellent! And everybody looks so dapper in their tuxedos.
Dim the lights...and here we go.
Lee Dewyze, head over to the center of the stage. You sang That's Life. And Lee..you are safe.
And here comes Lady Gaga, singing her latest smash "Alejandro." (Umm...I've never heard of it. But I have to say, I'm having flashbacks to Ace of Bass singing The Sign. Anyone else with me on this? Well, I mean...I only lasted through the first minute of the song, so I guess I should say that the first minute of this song reminds me of Ace of Bass. heh.)
Now here comes Harry Connick, Jr.! He did a great job...and now he's going to tickle the ivories while the top 5 sing some of his songs! Nice.
Harry shared a cute story. He got to sing at Mr. Frank Sinatra's 75th birthday party. The band started up, cued him in..and he completely froze. Couldn't remember a single word. He apologized, asked Mr. Sinatra for another chance, and made it through the song. As the party was winding down, he saw Mr. Sinatra trying to make his getaway. He dragged Jill, his wife (then girlfriend), across the room to try to catch Mr. Sinatra and apologize for the weird performance...and maybe get a few words of wisdom from his hero. He caught up just as Mr. S was getting in the elevator, and hurriedly made his introductions and his apology. As he waited for the sage words of wisdom from his idol, he watched as Frank turned to Jill, cradled her face in both his hands and said, "You're beautiful." Frank then kissed her on the lips, the doors of the elevator shut, and Harry was left standing there what had just happened! Heh.
Now Crystal heads to the center of the stage. You sang Summer Wind. Start a group on the far side of the stage.
Michael Lynche, stand up. You sang The Way You Look Tonight. Start a group on the near side of the stage.
Aaron Kelly, you sang Fly Me To the Moon. Aaron, join big Mike.
Casey James, you sang Blue Skies. Casey, go join Crystal.
Guys, my heart is beating out of my chest. I really don't want Crystal to be in danger.
Mike and Aaron...are the bottom two this week.
Umm...what?! Casey isn't in the bottom two?! I'm beyond shocked. He was crazy last night! He sounded like a lamb!
Aww...Aaron looks like he's going to cry.
Bring down the lights...after the nationwide vote, the person whose Idol journey comes to an end tonight is...Aaron Kelly. Mike, you are in the top 4.
Aaron, we'll miss you. You're an awesome kid.
Aaaand...Aaron's wrapping us up with Fly Me to the Moon.
*Teeny tiny personal note here, just to check who's reading. I'm watching sans hubs tonight...and I really wish he was in the room to dance with me right now. Love you, honey.
Awww...sorry honey. He was a trooper tonight, and ran back to give E hugs and kisses when she had a melt down- she drew 2 pictures for him today, and he was a rock star while she explained all about the monster with one eye, the tall monster...and no, that's not a monster, that's a postage stamp with a picture of me on it...
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you play the CD mix from your wedding the minute he walks in the door? ;p That'd be sweet!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'll miss Aaron. I guess Casey must have a whole slew of ladies voting for him.
