(Jelly-Bean Oreo Pops)
Tomorrow will be all about choir practices, choir performances, Lo Gung's quartet, my duet, special Sunday School lessons and lots of Christ-centered thoughts. It will also involve a 12:00 choir rehearsal, followed by church classes and meetings from 1 pm until 4 pm.
Today is raining and wet, so we're foregoing an Easter Egg hunt at a local community church in favor of some quality time with friends, a quiet Easter Egg hunt in our living room, and a yummy ham dinner that we won't have time for tomorrow.
I realized the other day that Lo Gung was not raised with Easter in his life. His family did not attend any Christian church, and so why would they celebrate Easter? The Easter Bunny isn't really a big figure in Hong Kong, either. (Now, Santa on the other hand....he's a force to be reckoned with!) Seeing as that's the case, he doesn't really understand the whole Mythical Creatures that Bring Candy thing. (Christmas Stockings, in his house, didn't happen, and all presents were from Mom.) Case in point - we went out on Thursday to pick out a tennis racket for BBJ. (She chose a pink Dora racket - she calls it her "Pwincess Wacket.") Lo Gung paid for it, handed it to her, and said, "That's from the Easter Bunny!" Apparently, he and I are going to have to put our heads together and get our story straight! So far, all she knows about this bunny is that he somehow snuck off with all the candy and jellybeans we bought last week. I told her the Easter Bunny took all her jelly beans, and that he'd bring them back on Easter, inside of plastic eggs. She re-hashes that story back to me about three times a day.
How are you celebrating this weekend?
Happy Easter, y'all!
Those pops are adorable! I want one! (After Passover, of course. :))
