My friends, my fellow countrymen...and everyone else - I bring you The LoLo Road Trip of '09. Did you miss me? I've been off, gallavanting around the countryside, eating Chinese food, walking my legs to the bone, meeting fellow bloggers and just generally wearing myself out...all in the name of a Good Time.
I've divided the travelogue up into a few posts...I'm not sure how many yet. It's currently about 10 posts, but that's only because Myrnie just turned me on to Picasa 3, and I can post four pictures at a time to Blogger with the click of a button. SWEET.
Our adventures started out late on a Thursday evening, with the arrival of Lo Gung's parents - MaMa and YehYeh. (MaMa being grandma, and YehYeh being grandpa. Take notes - this is going to get confusing in a minute.)
(Oh, and a note - from here on out, we'll be using the names that the KIDS use for all the relatives, alright? Bear with me.)
On Friday, Lo Gung's aunt (SukPoh 4), uncle (SukGung 4) and two cousins (Kristy and KyKy) arrived. (SukPoh is dad's brother's wife, SukGung is dad's brother. The 4 means that this particular brother is the fourth brother in the family. YehYeh is the oldest. Seriously, take notes - it's going to get worse.)
Saturday morning, bright and early, we loaded up all the LoLo's into two cars and got ourselves into The City. (That'd be New York City.) We played around in Chinatown, where I got to play the unlikely part of Tour Guide - seems I know all the best places to get Good Eats around there. (And you'd better believe we all headed down to my favorite Tofu Place for some sweet DauFu Fa!)
From there, we hopped on and off subways, took the free Statten Island Ferry past Lady Liberty, loaded up on kooky souveniers, and generally had a great time. We arrived home exhausted, and happy.
Sunday, we left the visiting LoLo Peeps to fend for themselves, and did the Church Thing.
Monday is when things got really interesting.
(To be continued...)

Sounds like a good time. I can't wait to hear about Monday.
ReplyDeleteI still get confused by all these terms for the different relatives, but I have to admit that there is something nice about each person getting their own unique designation.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying your blog and am "following" you now. (Ugh, makes me sound like a stalker!) Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've always seen your comments on TM's blog and wondered about your name. :)
A great day.

Correction: Suk Gung is what you call your dad's dad's YOUNGER brother. And Suk Poh is your dad's dad's younger brother's wife. Yes, so confusing. HAHA.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, and so glad Lo Gung cleared that all up for me!
