Is it Friday already?

How is that some days can simply c.r.a.w.l. by...and weeks can FLY. Seriously. How is it Friday already?

I started addressing my Christmas cards this afternoon, during the kids' nap. I got through the E's. Addressing cards always stresses me out, as at least 5 are returned to me every year for wrong or incomplete addresses. (That sometimes means I get my own cards back in February. It can take a long time for a card to be returned from Hong Kong!) I try to keep my address book updated...but what if I missed someone? What if I'm sending a card to someone who didn't KNOW that I'd be sending one (like an Aunt I've never met!) and so, of course, she wouldn't KNOW that I'd like to have her new address? What if I send out 75 cards and only get 10 back...does that mean that there are 65 people out there who are getting my card and immediately throwing it away because They Don't Care? Hmm??!

We had a playdate this morning, and it made me feel very Daring - the playdate took place AFTER Siu Jeun's nap. This means that the afternoon nap was pushed back an hour..or two. And you know what? It. Was. Fine. Seriously. I love having these friends over - they have a daughter who is just old enough to tell BBJ what to do, but still young enough to enjoy the same toys. Their son is just older than Siu Jeun...and they have fun stealing toys from each other and babbling in Klingon.

I watched Glee this week. Seriously, guys - do you know ANYONE as gleefully MALICIOUS as Sue Sylvester? SERIOUSLY. I read an article in Entertainment Weekly that said the hardest part of her job is directing her malicious lines towards the red-head school counselor with the puppy dog eyes. It just breaks her heart to be mean to that sweet woman.

Christmas is almost here. I wrapped up a few presents this morning - the ones that will actually be a SURPRISE for Lo Gung on Christmas. He is so stinkin' hard to shop for! So...I got him something that I would like. And took the tags off. Sneaky, yes? (Don't worry honey - it was cheap. *grin*)

Siu Jeun smells delicious. If I could duct-tape him to my face and just smell his neck all day long, I'd do it. Of course, he'd get heavy...and I'd get a rash from the tape...but STILL. Moms, you know what I'm talking about.

Speaking of scents...my daughter has a Smeller. Seriously. She smells everything, and identifies with her surroundings by how they smell. She once told me that -I- had a "poopy diaper" because I was wearing "stretch" jeans and the elastic in the fabric had a rather...peculiar odor.

And that's all for today. Any big plans for the weekend? I just realized that we invited friends over for dinner. Hrm. Wonder what I'm cooking, and when they're coming?

  6. I love your bits.

That duct taping thing cracked me up. Because yes, both of my boys might end up taped to my nose! YUM.

And stop talking about Christmas...I'm SO unprepared!!!

  7. Umm... dizzy after reading that post. But yes, the Christmas card thing is exhausting, isn't it? Be sure to send me your address so I can send you our annual cheesy poem sung to the tune of a Christmas carol.

And Sue Sylvester? Best Halloween costume this year was a teen wearing a track suit, with a whistle and screaming "it's over!" when people asked who she was.

  8. Oh you're putting me to shame with the Christmas cards...ack I don't even think I will send ANY this year (hangs head in shame).

And I hear you about the playdate time thing; I feel like structure is good for our kids, but if you mix it up every once in awhile they'll often surprise you with how resiliantly (not a word?) they respond. The fear is often just us, not them, right?

Glee. What can I say? It's the only TV show I (have/make time to) watch. LOVE Sue Sylvester. So so so funny.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting too -- I wish I got back to you more, but know that it's always great to hear from you!!!
