American Idol, Week 5: Results

*Spoiler alert!!! These are the results from last night's voting. If you do not want to know yet...please stop reading now!

A few readers have been skipping the whole watching part of the Idol experience this year...and my posts, for them, are filling that gap in their social knowledge. Who am I to deny them that service?

So, for you my "I'd-Rather-Sleep" friends, this is for you. For you, my "I live in a strange foreign land and they don't show Idol here" friends, this is for you. For you, my "I don't own a TV" friends...this is most definitely for you.

You're welcome.

Opening group number - Wake me Up Before You Go Go. (I love this song! Mostly because I hate it when people leave without saying goodbye. Fastest way to ruin my day...seriously.)

Siobhan Magnus...you are safe.
Lee Dewyze, you sang The Letter.
Casey James, you sang Power of Love.
Tim Urban, you sang Crazy Little Thing Called Love. (Tim, sweetie, your mother is cringing right now. You looked like you didn't wash your hair after yesterday's performance, and you certainly didn't shave. Oy.) In the bottom three.
Paige Miles, you sang  Against All Odds. In the bottom three.

And...commercial break. Aaaand...Lee and Casey are still standing there. ?? Sad!

We're back, and Miley Ray Cyrus is singing for us! I'm way too critical, so I'm not going to say much. The girl is super talented, but...as a voice major (and teacher), there are a few things that are just grating on me!

(Ok, well I guess Lee and Casey are safe, because they're not standing anymore!)

Aaron Kelly, you sang I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. Safe
DiDi Benami, you sang You're No Good. (Ellen would like to see DiDi do what DiDi does. Like a little ditty. Go ahead - say that out loud. Say it again. You're welcome.) Safe
Michael Lynche, you sang When a Man Loves a Woman. Safe
Crystal Bowersox, you sang Me and Bobby Magee. (Kara said no guitar, Simon said love the guitar. Who do you listen to if you make it through? Crystal: Me.) Safe
Katie Stevens, you sang Big Girls Don't Cry. In the bottom three.
Andrew Garcia, you sang Heard it Through the Grape Vine. Safe. (Wow...I'm reeling.)

The person safe and staying is...Katie.

We're down to Tim and Paige.

And now for something completely different, some music!
Make a Wave,  Debbie Lavado and Joe Jonas.

(Is he the Jonas brother that got married?)

(Excuse me...I'm having a moment. I'M OLD. I don't know who these kids are...and I find that I just don't care that much. They can sing, and that's enough for me.)

(Oh, and that Joe looks a smidge like a young version of my little brother.)

(Oh, and he's single.)

(My brother. Not Joe. Obviously.)

(Oh, look! The commercials are over. Yea.)

The person who is going home tonight, unless the judges save them, after the nation wide vote is.....Paige Miles

Paige will not be singing, as the judges don't want to give her false hope. She's done...and she needs to go home and figure out how to re-capture the great voice she had when she auditioned.

She was really, really great....and it was sad to watch her falter. Paige, go home, center yourself...and I know we'll be hearing more from you!

  1. Joe's not the married one. Don't ask me how I know that. LOL

  2. As the friend who sleeps while you watch and record - many thanks. I do feel for Paige. She is talented. I'm ready for the long, stringy haired guy to go home too.

  3. Oh my lands... I feel bad saying this, but thank goodness. I could not possibly live through another flat song. And yet - when she sang her goodbye, she sounded so much better. I think her nerves/ fear of failure just killed her.
