I find that my day is so much more enjoyable if I have a goal at the end of it. A good meal, or a meeting if nothing else. I love to spend all day thinking about a meal. In my perfect day, I start prepping in the morning or late afternoon when I have time. Around 5, BBJ is well rested from her afternoon nap. She can sit in her highchair and have a snack while she watches me cook. If everything is prepped, I love futzing with it - measuring, mixing, and putting it in the oven. (I like oven better than stove - it means I can play with BBJ while we wait for Louh Gung to come home from work.) Louh Gung comes home, happy and hungry. He gives us all a kiss, plays with BBJ while I plate dinner, and we all tuck in. The first sound I hear is, "Ooh, honey - this smells great!" That is followed shortly thereafter by, "Mmmmmmm, honey - my mother would love this."
That's my perfect day. It's actually happened...about 20 times in the past two years. Like I said, that's a perfect day.
Today was pretty close.
BBJ woke up a little cranky, but we met a friend for a walk and that turned her attitude around quickly.
When we came home, BBJ read a few books.

I love it when she plays by herself!

Tonight, we were graced by the presence of our friends, Miss Stephanie and her parents! The evening went pretty close to a Perfect Meal. I made Fiesta Chicken and a romaine and red pear salad for dinner. This was met with the appropriate Ooh's and Aahs. Stephanie's Daddy even had seconds!
We finished off with a Hot Fudge Cake. It sounded ooey, gooey....and it lived up to its reputation. We served this with ice cream. Yummy! (Think of it as a brownie pan full of molten lava cake...and you're about there.)

Miss Stephanie, we're glad you could come to play with us!
