Can I just get everyone out there to think a few skinny thoughts for me? That'd be great.
Oh, and maybe I'll get my rear into some exercise clothes. *sigh*
And now we get to my favorite part of the week - the part where YOU do my blogging for me!

It's simple - I post a question, you comment with an answer, and we are all edified together. (If you'd like more questions to answer, or would like to play along, head on over to Island Life and link up!)
So my question is...
How does laundering sheets work in your house.
(Yes, I'm creative. Feel free to hate me.)
I thought this one up yesterday, while I was in the midst of washing six loads of laundry.
Yes. Six.
See, we've got house guests, and their sheets needed to be washed before they arrived.
Oh, and BBJ declared two nights ago that she didn't need a diaper.
(She was proved wrong at approximately 4:06 am the next morning.)
And my sheets needed a washing, as long as everybody else was getting their sheets washed.
There there was the enormous load of towels.
A load of "colors" (98% of which were toddler and infant clothes.)
Finally, a load of "whites."
Six loads.
As I took the first load of sheets out of the drier, and started to bunch them (neatly) up, I thought to myself, "Hmm...I wonder if OTHER people pull the old sheets off the bed, put on fresh sheets, and then wash the sheets later with the rest of the laundry?"
I pull the sheets, wash the sheets, and put the same sheets back on the bed.
Why? That's easy.
Putting sheets on a bed is way easier than trying to figure out how to neatly fold a fitted sheet so you can put it back in the linen closet.
So, spill - what do you do with your sheets on laundry day?
I pull the old sheets off the bed, put on fresh sheets, and then wash the sheets later with the rest of the laundry. :D
ReplyDeleteI either wash them and put them back on the bed... or I attempt to fold them and then cram the wad of sheets into the back of the linen closet. I'm totally in denial about my linen closet.
ReplyDeleteI put fresh sheets on, because I like the bed to be made, and then at night, I am not yelling at myself because I am tired and the sheets are still in the dryer.
ReplyDeleteI also learned a neat way to fold fitted sheets. If you fold the corner parts inside of each other so you have the sheet in quarters, with one rounded edge, it actually lays quite flat, and then the just finish folding it like any other sheet.
Kid sheets generally get washed a different day, and I replace dirty sheets with some from the linen closet. Big Bed sheets...generally get washed and replaced too. I have one pair of jersey sheets (tan with palm trees...weird), one pair of white sheets (summer), and one pair of red sheets (winter, with extra quilt.) See? Can't change the sheets wtihout needing to change out the quilt, so they go with the season :)
ReplyDeleteBUT, I'm pretty good at folding a fitted sheet...and when you put them in the linen closet, store in the pillowcase so they stay together :) (Thanks, Martha!) The only problem is they smell like wood...
I usually pull the old ones off & put clean ones on. Depends though sometimes as to whether I want the ones that were on my bed or the ones in the linen closet.
ReplyDeleteGreat question!
ReplyDeleteMy old sheets sit in the laundry basket for a week (or 2) then I was them and the sheets currently on the bed take thier spot in the laundry basket.....
I hate folding fitted sheets too....those are a PITA!
I'm with you...I pull the old sheets off, wash them, and put them straight back on. Part of my reason is that I have dust allergies, and sheets straight from the dryer have no dust! In case you're wondering, my linen closet isn't really dusty, but even if sheets sit on the shelf for a week I notice a difference.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I pull, launder, and put the same ones back on. But sometimes if I'm feeling really lazy I just wash the pillowcases and put different ones on.
ReplyDeleteI always pull off the old sheets, put on new sheets, and then wash the old sheets later.
ReplyDeletePull off old sheets, put on new... wash old ones later (Laundry service, my dear, heh.)
ReplyDeleteI usually pull off the old ones, put on new ones, and wash the old ones.
ReplyDeleteI wash them later. Too many beds in this house to do them all at once.
ReplyDeleteBut, I go even further in my lazy ways. I don't fold my sheets. Nope. I stash them in the corresponding pillow case and store them in a blanket chest. Yes, they are wrinkled. No, I do not care.
Yes I change the sheets and wash them later. i should wash them right away because of the body mites. however I am one to wait. I will be changing that starting this week. I read an article about Bed Mites and decided it would be good to wash them right away.
ReplyDeletei was and put em right back on when their done about once a week is the goal. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I usually do the exact same thing!!
