The Thrill of the Hunt

For years, we have talked about my in-laws moving to town. For months we have looked at houses in the area, watching prices and inventory. For weeks, we have been looking seriously, as my in-laws listed their house and began to prepare to move. For days, we have been watching the market with hawk-like persistence.

Houses are going pending within hours of us noticing them on the market, and move day is coming! Tonight, we went and toured a condo that met most of our wish list. It is within walking distance to us, Ming Wai's school (for pick up and drop off!), a grocery store and a large park. The construction is newer, the interior is spotless. It has the space my in-laws need to live comfortably, and host out of town guests. And the best part? It's in the price range we are trying to keep. (Ironically, it is owned by one of Lo Gung's past co-workers. Small world, eh?)

Baby Ying Ying came with us on our house tour.
However, baby's attention spans are notoriously fickle. Were she conscious, I'm sure she would tell you the condo was beautiful.

So, we are crossing our fingers. Inventory in our neighborhood moves FAST. Unless of course you want something $1million+. Then you can take your time. The rest of us, though, need to jump to get anything good. (I have heard of people showing up to open houses with inspectors in tow, ready to make an offer, nearly sight unseen. Competition out here is fierce, y'all. Fierce, I tell you.)
